Field Trips??
Yes, field trips!  Remember I am a teacher at heart and so these are all field trips.  Below you will find information on places to take your little ones in and around South Florida.  I will add information, photos, and tips once I have visited these places.  I compiled this list from a question I had asked on a mom's site on Facebook.  I work in the travel industry and I always try to stay informed on the best places to visit with little ones.  Have a suggested place to add to this list?  Just email me and I'd be happy to visit and add the info.

PS: If you see out of date information, kindly let me know.  There's no way I can know everything out there on my own :)

Cost: $10 for open play.
Bees Knees is not just an indoor playground.  It was filled with every educational toy around. No electronic toys to be found, which made me happy!  A lot of Melissa and Doug products.  It is set up around the Montessori philosophy.  There were the following areas set up: kitchen, puzzles, music, library, dramatic play, art, relaxation, and many more!  It was great for kids from 12 months (first walking) and up.  There were bigger kids there too and every played so nice!  They also have a second space in the mall for birthday parties as well.

They just reopened in the Boynton Beach mall.  I will provide updated photos and information as soon as I go!

The admission price for toddlers includes a well made swim diaper by iPlay.  I snapped a photo of  the one given to me below.  It is reusable, so don't throw it away!  The park itself had two water slides (42" and taller), a lazy river, swimming pool, and water play area.  My toddler (15 months old) had no problem walking in the water and playing on the equipment.  There were many other young toddlers playing as well.  All the parents were attentive to their kids.  There were plenty of chairs under umbrellas with shade.
Cool Beans
Palm Beach Gardens. M-Th 9am-8pm. F-S. 9am-9pm. Sun 10am-6pm.
Cost: ~$10.  Adults are free.
Cool Beans is a nice place to take your child on a hot day.  Thats what I did.  When my son was nearing 2.5 I found myself lost as to what to do on the hot summer days.  There are only so many splash pads that you can go to.  So we drove, 30 minutes north, just to check this place out.  I liked it.  There are different areas set up through this "indoor playground" which was really much more than that.  There was a play kitchen area, puzzles, blocks, a giant dollhouse, two dress up sections, trampolines, slides, and "teachers."  There were two young ladies who engaged the children in structured games and play.  There is also a small baby section if you have a little one.  My 2 year old kept going in there because he liked some of the toys!  There is a cafe that serves small bites, coffee, tea, and more!

I've taken my son here a few times on a nice day.  He could spend hours just walking on the boardwalk looking for animals.  One one particular day we saw alligators, ducks, various birds, eagles, turtles, and so much more.  The boardwalk is open during all daylight hours.  The programs building keeps the hours mentioned in the information above.  Inside there is a gift shop, classroom, and tank exhiits with a few animals.

We visited on a Friday morning.  It wasn't busy, there were perhaps 6 other kids there during that time.  It's a fairly large space broken up in to themes: tea party, castle, transportation, farm, etc.  There is a gift shop which sells all the same toys, a birthday area, stage, snack room with vending machines, and they also sell Lechuza self-watering planters.  The employees were circulating, constantly cleaning up and reorganizing the toys.  My son enjoyed his time there and we'd definitely go back next time we're in the area.  It's great for kids 2 and up that like to play and build.

During our visit there was a small school group and a few other parents with their young children.  The museum itself isn't very big, but it has enough to entertain.  An aquarium, exhibit hall, planetarium, investigation stations, Subway restaurant, and gift shop.  They are currently remodeling the mini-golf course out back as well!

Sugar Sand Park- Children's Science Explorium
Boca Raton. Mon-Fri. 9am-6pm.  Sat-Sun. 10am-5pm.
Cost: $5 suggested donation.
We took my son here at 17-months old.  He enjoyed the space for about 30 minutes.  It is truly designed for kids a bit older but he liked the buttons and watching the "bank tubes" shoot out the scarves.  The room isn't large, but there is enough to keep an older child busy for quite some time.  Each little exhibit had an explanation of the science behind it.

Sugar Sand Park- Science Playground
Boca Raton.  9am-dusk
Cost: Free
This is not my favorite playground for a toddler.  There are a lot of nooks and crannies for your child to find.  There is a smaller section for your toddler to play in with a swing and a few other aparatus. Older kids will really love the park because there is so much to do and explore.  There are scientific discoveries sprinkled throughout the playground for your child to play with and explore. In the center of the main playground is a splash pad where children can get wet, it's good for those hot summer days.
We Rock the Spectrum- Open Play
Boca Raton. Mon-Thurs. 9am-7pm.  Fri 9am-6pm.  Sat-Sun. 10am-6pm (if no parties are booked)
Cost: $12 a session.  $50 for 5 visits.  $100 for 12 visits.  $175 a month for unlimited play for 3 children (from the same family)
Rock the Spectrum was a nice indoor play place.  They cater to all types of children, both on and off the autism spectrum.  There were a lot of toddlers the day we went.  There were 4-5 high school aged girls working and circulating around picking up after the kids and helping out.  Some of the equipment I had recognized from when my son was in physical therapy for torticollis.  We spent over 2 hours there and the boys had a lot of fun!
